JUNE 2025 / OPEN CALL: The Queer Experience

Deadline: June 9, 2025
Artist Notification: June 10, 2025
Exhibition: June 14 - July 15, 2025
Location:  Islip Arts Council Gallery, Bay Shore, NY
Opening Reception: TBA
Medium Considered: 2D & 3D art, digital art, poetry/stories, photography, interactive art, installation

The Islip Arts Council invites queer artists to speak of their own experiences navigating this world as themselves, especially in the current reactionary climate in which we live.

How has your sexual orientation or gender identity shaped your life?

What was your coming out journey or exploration of your identity like?

Despite potential hardship, how did you manage to find community or “found family”?

We aim to challenge the often negative narratives faced by queer people and to humanize them, celebrate, and embrace their identities through platforming their artwork and giving them a voice.
