Intro to Asian Brush Painting Workshop

Intro to Asian Brush Painting Workshop

With Magaly Ravelo-Chong
Saturday, October 4 / 12-2pm
Fee: $50

This workshop will introduce and explore Asian brush painting (Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, to mention a few Asian countries/cultures) derived from Chinese ink paintings.

We will learn about the simplicity and harmony of Asian brush as it focuses on capturing the essence and energy of an object/subject rather than reproducing the object/subject as seen.

The four treasures (brush, paper, ink and ink stone)will be introduced along with basic strokes and the Four Gentlemen (plum blossom, orchid, bamboo, chrysanthemum). Basic strokes will be demonstrated and in honor of the autumn season students will paint the chrysanthemum.
