THE FLIP SIDE - STUDENT SHORT FILM FESTIVAL
JUNE 8 / 6-8pm

Eight Films. Eight Visions. One Cause.
BREAKING DOWN STEREOTYPES.

The Islip Arts Council presents its first student film festival at the IAC Gallery Annes. This initiative was made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrant Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council of the Arts, and with the support of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and administered by the Huntington Arts Council.

The filmmakers, all high school students in the Town of Islip, were asked to shed light on stereotypes of all kinds. The judging was in three categories:
1 - CONTENT - How clearly the film addresses the topic
2 - CREATIVITY - unique choices made to tell the story
3 - PRODUCTION - tech skills: audio, lighting, editing, cinematography

RESULTS:
BEST FILM: "Growing Out," Rainer Pasca, Bay Shore HS
FIRST RUNNER UP: "Rewritten," Asher DeVerna & Nick Rampulla, Sayville HS
SECOND RUNNER UP: "Gender Stereotypes," Randy Shephard, Brentwood HS

Founded in 1974, the Islip Arts Council is dedicated to leadership, advocacy, and excellence in the arts. Our goal is to present, produce, and promote culturally responsive, high quality programs in varied artistic disciplines for our diverse Long Island community.
