JUNE 2024 / Featured Artist: Joan Schram

ON VIEW: June 4 - July 3
RECEPTION: June 7 / 6-8pm

I moved from New York City to Eastport, Long Island in 2018 and very soon fell in love with the rural beauty and fabulous beaches. Newly retired, I was free to explore and further my creative urges. I put aside my stained glass art and I started creating miniature 3-dimensional scenes using shells and other natural material collected while walking the nearby Southampton beaches. My little shell and sand scenes were popular in local garden gift shops—so affirming.

Beginning early in 2023, I enrolled in classes for drawing and watercolor painting in Westhampton Beach.  I am again inspired by the beaches and bays and now my focus is on watercolor painting. I love the fluidity of water and paint! Although relatively new to this medium, I am continuing to learn new techniques and the patience needed.
