ON VIEW MAR 1 - 30, 2024
RECEPTION MAR 2 / 1-4pm
Islip Arts Council is hosting a special multi-media art exhibition with Women Sharing Art, Inc. in honor of Women's History Month.
Speaking volumes in the form of art, this exhibit is all about women: their role as female and mother, their social history, familial tasks now and then, the crusades politically and the strides made in smashing the glass ceiling.
The artisans behind this unique exhibit have elevated multi-media to a new high in the world of art. Fabric art and textiles are strung on meandering clotheslines throughout the gallery giving the viewer a walk-around experience of two-sided art. Walls display fabulous watercolors, acrylics, oils and sketches. Wood creations find great space as well. And there’s whimsy too! Painters turn ordinary scenes into fanciful events and stand-alone exhibits telling their own tale. It would be hard to find a medium not represented here.
A “Meet the Artist” reception on Saturday, March 2 from 1 to 4 will go beyond the visual as The Island Hills Chorus, directed by Laura Riffaud, perform a story in song, The Climb, the historic tale about women on their quest for equal rights.
