ABOUT IAC'S ART & MUSIC HISTORIC HOUSES SERIES
The goal of the grant from RLDC is to enhance public visitation to historic houses and to introduce a new purpose for touring the venues by including art and music. In this unique series the guided tour of each location is enhanced by a musical performance from selected artists whose style fits the period or the location of the building.
All concerts were recorded inside beautiful locations. Our cameras afford a glimpse into the elegance of the homes and houses of worship, and the Town of Islip encompasses many smaller hamlets that were homes of the Gilded Age.
This program was made possible by the generous support of the Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation.
The Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation, established in 1987, primarily supports the study of Long Island history and its role in the American experience. Robert David Lion Gardiner was, until his death in August 2004, the 16th Lord of the Manor of Gardiner’s Island, NY.
The Gardiner family and their descendants have owned Gardiner’s Island since 1639, obtained as part of a royal grant from King Charles I of England. The Foundation is inspired by Robert David Lion Gardiner’s personal passion for New York history.
