Teeny Awards Reimagined for Covid
CELEBRATING HIGH SCHOOL THEATER IN ISLIP TOWN
PRESENTED ON THE NEW ISLIPARTS YOUTUBE CHANNEL! / June 20, 2020
For the past 11 years, The Teeny Awards has been an event our community has eagerly looked forward to – a time of celebration for local high school theatre students and faculty. Now the Teenys have been reimagined for 2020 to include a celebration of all the high school theater students.
Many productions were cut short or never opened so there could be no adjudication. That is why this year we have transformed it from the usual awards program to a virtual production so that all can be recognized. Each school was invited to submit a short video showing their productions if it did open, or rehearsal footage if it did not. Directors have been asked to honor their students with a shout out. Many past Teeny Alumni will be "stopping by" to say how much the Teenys meant to them.
This is an incredibly unique production for us and a way for the students to get some recognition for all of their hard work. We are thankful to Emmy award winning Waldo Cabrera for helping create this one of kind production for the Islip Arts Council. Please enjoy the video presented above.
