Sharon was a representational artist who focused on nature's beauty. She loved working in many different mediums including watercolor, oils, acrylics, and pastels with a little printmaking thrown in now and then. When the weather permitted, she enjoyed working en plein air, especially in oils.
Growing up, Sharon worked in a small boatyard on Long Island’s south shore, owned by her parents. Her love of the marine environment and birds influenced her work.
Teaching was another of Sharon's passions and she performed demonstrations for many art organizations. She taught various media for the Islip Arts Council, and has exhibited at national and regional juried shows, galleries and outdoor festivals.
Sharon was a regional representative for the American Society of Marine Artists. She served as the 3rd Vice President of the prestigious Salmagundi Club, and was on their Board for 12 years. She was the former chair of their Art Committee and the first woman to hold this position in the club’s 135+ year history. Sharon was an elected member of the Pastel Society of America, Audubon Artists, American Artists Professional League, and the Salmagundi Club. She was also a Signature Artist of the North East Watercolor Society, and the Baltimore, Rhode Island and Missouri Watercolor Societies.
Sharon passed in 2022.
