Cartooning for Kids

With Johnny Barlanti
Four Week Class for Kids Age 6-10
Saturdays 2-4pm
Fee: $100

Session 2:
February 1, 8, 15, 22, 2025

Johnny takes students back to basics with creativity & a pencil in this 4-week program! Students will use light guidelines to design cartoon faces with different expressions, eyes, eyebrows, noses and mouths. Using very simple shapes, students will learn to draw dynamic cartoon characters. Students will create their own story in a comic strip, placing their character into 2-4 panels. Students will use speech bubbles, captions, and backgrounds to enhance the comic strip. Students will ink their story with a black marker, and coloring their story will be encouraged!

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
What started out as a childhood passion for reading comic books and an admiration of the art work, developed into a lifelong dream of Johnny Barlanti — to be an artist.

Johnny pursued his dream by studying the basics of visual art at the exclusive High School of Art and Design in Manhattan.
To further his education, he attended the School of Visual Arts in NYC, obtaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree.
Johnny’s recent artistic achievements include his illustration of a children’s book and publication of pin-ups and comic illustrated stories for Argo Comics.

He has 20 years of teaching experience in after-school and summer art programs, and loves sharing his passion for drawing and cartooning to everyone.
