The Islip Arts Council, in proud partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County, is excited to unveil an innovative art contest aimed at high school students across each school district within the Town of Islip. This creative challenge seeks to highlight the mission and vision of the SNAP-ED Program, urging participants to produce artworks that resonate with the program’s commitment to nutritional education and healthy living. In an inspiring blend of artistry and advocacy, students are called upon to explore and express themes of health, nutrition, and community well-being, emphasizing the significance of informed food choices and the adoption of healthier eating patterns.

Elevating the stakes of this artistic endeavor, the contest promises to reward exceptional talents with "Best In Show", 2nd, and 3rd place prizes, acknowledging the creativity, insight, and skill behind the most compelling submissions. The celebration of art and awareness culminates in a gallery showing during the first week of June 2024, where the winning pieces and select submissions will be exhibited, showcasing the powerful intersection of artistic expression and social consciousness.

This contest offers more than just a platform for artistic display; it’s an opportunity for students to engage with critical health issues, using their creativity as a force for education and change. We invite you to join us in this significant and meaningful journey, where art becomes an avenue for reflection, discussion, and inspiration towards a healthier, more informed community. Let your vision and voice be part of this transformative experience.
